Dr. Amber Walker

PT, DPT, CFMP, CNPT

Hi, I’m Amber!  Whether you’re seeking a specific intervention or a more holistic and comprehensive in-depth approach to healing, I look forward to learning your story and working together.

My main aim is to help patients transition from “survival mode” to thriving. I ‘ve been blessed to find healing from chronic illness and I’m here to share a wide array of incredible tools for your journey.

 Amber’s Story

Amber Walker, PT, DPT, CFMP, CNPT is a physical therapist graduate of Regis University who has been working with patients for over 16 years. She began her career in northern Peru, where she worked in clinics and hospitals, taught at continuing education events, conducted research, and started a public health project for children with disabilities as a volunteer with Catholic Medical Mission Board. Upon returning to the U.S., she mainly focused her clinical practice on sports medicine, spine pain, TMJ dysfunction, and swimmer-specific injury prevention. As affiliate faculty with Regis University, Amber has returned to Peru five additional times for leadership in conferences, university-sponsored clinical education, and service learning opportunities with DPT students.

Chronic Illness-Focused

Over the years, Amber gained valuable additional training in manual therapy and exercise through the Ola Grimsby Institute and comprehensive strategies for the chronic pain and chronic fatigue patient populations. After several decades of debilitating symptoms, she experienced a massive transformation in her own health and considers herself to be free from several dozen labels and previous diagnoses. She has transitioned away from practicing physical therapy and now specializes in working with patients who suffer from chronic conditions including dysautonomia, mast cell activation disease, covid and vaccine complications, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, migraine headaches, inflammation from mold, and chronic viral, gastrointestinal, and bacterial issues that influence immune system function.

In 2018 she completed training in Craniobiotic Technique (CBT), a natural method of restoring proper immune function that directs the brain to the location of health stressors in the body via the stimulation of neurovascular reflex points. Amber completed her Certification in the practice of Functional Medicine (CFMP®) and Certification in Nutritional Physical Therapy in 2020. In 2023 she completed her certification in Mind Body Spirit Release™ (MBSR™), a technique used to tap into the subconscious to help the body bring to the surface and release emotions that may be stuck.

Amber is the author of “Mast Cells United: A Holistic Approach to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome” published in 2019, “The Trifecta Passport: Tools for MCAS, POTS and EDS” published in 2021, and “Full Circle: Inner Work Journal Questions for Expansive Healing from MCAS” published in 2024 .  Amber is particularly passionate about building community and sharing holistic healing resources; she enjoys teaming up with others for retreats, speaking engagements and other patient and healthcare provider events.

Healing in Nature

Originally from Alaska, Amber thrives on being outdoors and is particularly drawn to mountain running and water sports. In the past she has held roles as a small business owner of an Anchorage-based stand-up-paddling company and a swimming coach. She is an avid surfer and enjoys spending time in Mexico year-round.

Amber believes that nature and well-planned exercise programs are integral components of a holistic healing plan. Amber is a certified Professional Stand Up Paddle Association (PSUPA) instructor with several years of experience guiding clients in adaptive and customized recreation experiences on the water.

Values & Beliefs

The Origin Wellness Mission

Origin Wellness aims to provide comprehensive, individualized, high quality care to patients suffering from chronic health concerns while addressing the hidden root issues responsible for symptoms. Origin Wellness also aims to improve accessibility to wellness services and educational resources for all individuals through out-of-the-box thinking and unique programs. Amber strives to empower patients with long-lasting tools for success and compassionate, customized care for holistic healing.

Customized Care for the Whole Person

You won’t find any cookie-cutter treatment approaches here! For wellness services, Amber offers 90 minute initial sessions for complex cases in order to ensure that the session is jam-packed with client education and resources. Amber believes in quality over quantity, and as long as patients and clients are willing to commit to some “homework,” this customized approach is very unique—and fruitful.

Thinking Outside of the Box

The conventional medical system typically offers fragmented care that only focuses on one condition or body system at a time, utilizing a “Band-Aid” approach that masks symptoms without putting out the original fire. By integrating knowledge of underlying pathogens, toxic burden, food sensitivities and allergies, nervous system function, gastrointestinal health, nutrient levels, the mind-body connection, musculoskeletal function, lifestyle factors, and other health variables, Origin Wellness patients can begin to reduce inflammation and heal from the inside-out.

Quality Care For All

Amber believes that all individuals deserve the right to access comprehensive patient-centered care, regardless of socioeconomic background, cultural and religious preferences, race, gender or age. She also believes that services not covered by insurance are often the most valuable for this client population.

Several programs support this mission, including group sessions and a HAE (hereditary angioedema) pro bono care program.

Hablo Espanol!

Amber is fluent in Spanish and welcomes the opportunity to work with patients who do not speak English.

 A Unique Approach

Amber offers a number of novel approaches for the chronic illness patient population.

While she does not order mast cell mediator lab testing, diagnose patients with MCAS, or prescribe medications, she finds that focusing client energy on holistic healing of the common triggers of mast cell over-activity brings the best long-term results.

Specifically, Amber specializes in working with clients who have:

  • mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)
  • biotoxin illness from mold exposure
  • dysautonomia and POTS
  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
  • PASC (post-acute sequelae of covid-19)
  • hereditary angioedema
  • Chiari malformation, intracranial pressure issues
  • multiple chemical sensitivity
  • chronic viral and bacterial infections, like Epstein-Barr virus and Lyme disease
  • chronic gastrointestinal issues
  • autoimmune conditions
  • thyroid disease
  • polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and fibromyalgia

She also networks with local providers and refers patients to trusted colleagues when clients are in need of additional avenues of healing, such as naturopathic care, specialists in emotional trauma, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, and other modalities.
